Dr. Ashley Skluzacek (previously Raiche) ND, LM, RN
Ashley is a Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Midwife at Fern Valley Natural Health. She graduated from Bastyr University with her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Certificate in Naturopathic Midwifery and is licensed in Washington State as a Primary Care Physician and Midwife. Ashley completed her undergraduate degree at the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota, earning her B.A. in Spanish with a minor in biology. During that time she served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the local community, taught English to Spanish-speaking families in the community, and worked as a nurse’s assistant in a retirement home for monks.
During her training to become a naturopathic doctor and midwife, Ashley developed a special interest in working with women and children. To further her knowledge in these specialties, Ashley took on several advanced courses, workshops, and internships focusing on the areas of preconception and naturopathic fertility management, women’s health, and pediatrics. She also took several trips abroad to volunteer her medical and midwifery services and learn about international medicine and public health issues. During these trips to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Argentina, Haiti, Ghana, and Vanuatu, she saw several hundred patients of all ages, assisted a variety of different health care providers, was a part of nearly 100 births, and learned an immense amount about health and medicine around the world.
Throughout her experience as a student, a traveler, a teacher, a volunteer, and a health care provider, Ashley has learned that personalized, patient-centered health care, where the health care provider and the patient work together, is the best way to achieve optimal health and wellness. She strives to provide her patients with the tools and education necessary for them to make informed decisions and encourages them to participate actively in their care. She appreciates the art of medicine and health care and truly believes that the human body has the incredible ability to heal itself if given the appropriate environment and support.
Ashley utilizes a variety of treatment methods, including nutrition and lifestyle counseling, herbal therapies, physical medicine, nutraceuticals, and medications when necessary. As a primary care physician, she addresses a wide range of wellness needs, from annual physicals and well child visits to fertility issues and chronic ailments.
Ashley is an active member of the following professional oragnizations: The Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicans (WANP), The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), The Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PedANP), and The Midwives Associations of Washington State (MAWS).
